Windows Vista Tweak #1 - File Security Dialogs

Ok, so this tweak isn’t really new.  Actually I first showcased it in my XP SP2 guide which conveniently got lost in the mix of host problems a few years back.  Anyway, it seems that every time you double click a downloaded file in Vista it asks you if you want to run the item (if you didn’t want to run it, you wouldn’t have clicked it right?).  This registry tweak will disable this for virtually every file extension I could think of at the time.

Note: This tweak is aimed at the experienced user as it involves editing your registry.  Please make a backup of the modified keys beforehand.  I take no responsibility if you use this tweak and subsequently go out and do something stupid like getting yourself a virus or spyware.

So here’s how to do it:

Download the following reg file and run it.  Reboot after you have run the reg file and enjoy a Vista that doesn’t prompt you at every opportunity (Are you sure you’re sure you’re sure?)

Hey Chris… Can you make one of your tricks/tips on how to get the MAX transparency in Vista if possible? I mean can it get any more transparent than what is allowed with the slide??
