This one was driving me nuts, but Nighthawk found the workaround.

In Word 2003, there are animations when you save a file and when you open a find dialog. With DWM on these animations lag to a frame by frame slideshow which makes things very annoying. Here is how to disable the animations.

Disable Microsoft Office Animations
1. Open Microsoft Office Word 2003
2. Click the Tools Menu, and then click Options.
3. Click the General tab
4. Uncheck “Provide feedback with animation”
5. Press OK.
